What I’ve Been Up To: Books and Television

I’ve recently been watching more television than usual. My typical nighttime situation is I read for about an hour or two. But, recently, I’ve substituted for “The Kardashians.”

Don’t get me wrong. I love the show. It definitely has the crack that most reality tv shows have that just gets people hooked. It’s a great way for me to shut off my brain for roughly 42 minutes. However, I also enjoy my reading time at night.

I know I just have to pull the plug. Consciously choose to pull out my book instead of my computer.

Now, for the books I’ve been reading. Yes, books. As in multiple.

I started Writers and Lovers by Lily King. It’s not a romance and that’s fine. But I do like to be always reading something with romance. So then I started The Heart of the Deal by Lindsay Macmillan. It’s an amazing story (so far, I’m only 60% in). The novel is set in New York and I just so happened to start reading it on my return flight from New York. It’s been great up until a certain part, which I have stopped at because it stressed me out for the trajectory of the plot.

So then I casually started ANOTHER book. Well, not really started; more like I am rereading. It’s Kristie and Becca Ritchie’s Damaged Like Us. It’s the first book in the Like Us series. I have reviewed many, if not all of them so far. I will link them at the end of the article.

Anyways, I feel like I can qualify myself into a reading slump. Hopefully it doesn’t last long and I can get back into my groove. I’ve got 20 more books to read to hit my 100 book goal on Goodreads. It’s time to turn my television off.
