Vampire Diaries has to be one of my all-time favorite shows. I remember seeing snippets on my television at home in its first few seasons. I forgot when I first sat down and decided to watch the show on Netflix; I’m going to shoot for high school.
…electric, baby blue eyes of Damon Salvatore.
Of course what drew me in were those electric, baby blue eyes of Damon Salvatore. *sigh* Who doesn’t love a good bad boy, especially when he falls for the one girl he shouldn’t because she’s dating his brother.
Vampire Diaries brings up so much angst and love triangles, both in the main trio and with other characters. The solid friendship that these characters have with one another is tear-inducing. The dynamics between characters constantly shift and change over seasons so there’s never really a dull moment.
When I was initially watching this I remember telling myself how I wished I could have a Bonnie and Caroline in my life. Well, maybe, post-season four Caroline, before then she was a little too self-absorbed for my taste.
I think what made the show a hit was that the acting was SO GOOD. I mean some of these actors really went for it. And they made sucking on someone’s neck look SEXY. Like COME ON, I’m sure that could have easily been highly uncomfortable for every party involved.
There were a few episodes (don’t worry, I’m not giving away spoilers) that I could not stop crying. It was just so emotional and well-performed by the cast.
This just shows the talent these actors have and you can see by where they all went afterwards. Their careers didn’t stop when the show finished.
Also, Vampire Diaries is eight seasons in length. EIGHT. It’s a good show to curl up on the couch, drink hot chocolate, or wine, and witness the dramatic life that is Stephan Salvatore’s.
What’s a show you can’t get over?
