Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings Book Review

I told my friends this year that all I wanted for my birthday was a book that reminded them of my. One of them gifted Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings. Immediately I knew why after reading the synopsis on the back.

I have been talking about how I want to be pregnant for the past five years, at least. Whenever I’m the tiniest bit bloated, I make sure to cup it and imagine that it’s an actual baby instead of a food baby.

It really started when I saw my niece being born. Yes, I was in the room, actively watching as my niece was born and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Ever since then, I’ve wanted to have children of my own.

Anyways, I’m getting off track.

The premise of this books is amazing. I’m surprised that I haven’t found a book like this before. It’s not your usual pregnancy trope. The plot surrounds Lizzie Blake’s pregnancy and how it makes her and her one night stand, Rake (that name is so funny), navigate their new (platonic) relationship.

I loved Lizzie’s character and how the author brings awareness ADHD. There were a lot of aspects of it I hadn’t even known about, like RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria). Rake was a solid 8/10 for me. I loved him most of the time but there were some moments he seemed a little bland to me.

One thing that really stood out to me was Lizzie’s friendships. She claims to have this close knit friend group of four, including herself. They were barely mentioned after chapter 20. They would each pop up here and there but overall, they had one or two more major occurrences and that was it.

Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake is a quick read and I would definitely recommend this book if you enjoy a chaotic plot and if you enjoy the pregnancy trope (obviously).
